Student Loans On Tap

The Louisiana Public Facilities Authority has been authorized to make available an additional $41 million in low-cost student loans. The funding was made possible when Gov. Mike Foster approved the sale of additional bonds for the student loan program back in December. The LPFA provides low-interest loans to Louisiana students and parents through the Louisiana Education Loan Authority (Lela). Lela's student loan benefits have been ranked among the best in the nation. Tricia Dubroc, LPEA vice president for student loans, said this allocation and other programs should encourage young Louisianans to pursue higher education in Louisiana and remain in the state after graduation.
